In case you were wanting to see more from that awesome camera they installed on Bruno’s car last weekend, since despite having that view available they still barely showed him on the coverage (what else is new), here’s his front wing view of the formation lap (he does several burnouts on the run up to his box on the grid), the wait for the start, the lights, his start, and roughly his first two laps! 

TBH, at first I was rather concerned that he slides around quite a bit on lap two (whether the tires were already starting to overheat and lose grip, obviously we have no idea) and misses several apexes, but then I had to remind myself that it’s not quali or practice, it’s the actual race, which is a very different animal. Not to mention Heikki was right on his ass from the word go (and ended up passing him, which you get a great view of about 3:29 in).

When you look at these laps from the point of view of Bruno driving defensively, most of his lines make much more sense. Taking an early apex into the corner can block the driver behind and really compromise their exit speed so you aren’t passed on the straight. Plus, during an actual race, there’s dust, slipstream, and like a hundred other fucking things to focus on. Are they perfectly clean laps? No, definitely not. The FW34 didn’t appear to handle well in Montreal, which you can see him struggling with a bit here. But put in context they’re not as erratic as they first appeared, which is good! Ultimately, Williams wasn’t happy with either car all weekend, particularly on race day, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Blah blah blah enjoy some awesome footage shot from Bruno’s car on Sunday. Never get tired of hearing these beasts rev their way up through the gears.
